When folk favourite Kate Rusby took to the stage at the Sage, Gateshead for a Christmas performance it was bound to be another festive treat. Having never worked at this landmark venue before, it was certainly a spectacle worth seeing!
This was our second time working with Kate and her team to provide not only a multicam recording of the performance but also digital tickets which allowed customers access to the live stream from home. With a global reach, Kate’s performance drew in fans from across the globe, generating many sales but also a buzz on social media which drove more traffic to the site.
Due to the ticketed nature of the stream, we provided our usual portable production unit but also a pay-per-view portal for customers to purchase tickets. Working closely with Kate’s web designer we were able to integrate this into the livestream player, along with a payment gateway. The record label, Pure Records, also helped by supporting this process, providing insights into the typical audiences Kate attracts and how best to make the platform user friendly.
Collaborating with Pure Records and also with James Lockey at Handheld Cineclub, we created a livestream to be proud of that was both enjoyable and easy to access for customers around the world.
